Burlington, Ontario band Walk Off The Earth's cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" has gone from viral video sensation to full-on viral pandemic.

According to a press release today, the group's YouTube video -- which features all five members performing the song on one guitar -- recently passed 100,000,000 views, making it "the most popular cover song ever posted on YouTube."

The song, which as of Wednesday afternoon stands officially at 107,448,843 views, garnered attention globally. The group also caught the attention of Ellen DeGeneres who invited Walk Off the Earth to perform on her show. That specific performance has over two million hits alone.

You have to give American politicians some credit as it's been several weeks since anyone's been caught using an artist's music without permission. But according to Punknews that streak came to an end over the weekend when Boston band Dropkick Murphys called out Wisconsin Republican Jeff Fitzgerald for using "Shipping Up to Boston" in a campaign stop.

"We just got word that Wisconsin State Rep and Speaker of the State Assembly Jeff Fitzgerald used 'Shipping Up to Boston' as his walk-on song yesterday at the Wisconsin GOP Convention in Green Bay," the band wrote in a Facebook post. "The stupidity and irony of this is laughable. A Wisconsin Republican U.S. Senate candidate -- and crony of anti-Union Governor Scott Walker -- using a Dropkick Murphy song as an intro is like a white supremacist coming out to gangsta rap!"

When you're listening to your iTunes on shuffle and it kicks out Interpol, the Bravery or She Wants Revenge, you probably have a hard time distinguishing between them, right? Forty-seven years after the release of his first single, "Catch the Wind," Donovan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Coinciding with the honor was the release of a double-disc compilation of his music, The Essential Donovan, which covers the years 1965 to 1973, and contains four songs that had either not been issued in the U.S. or available in the U.S. in CD form.

Donovan, who turned 66 on May 10, says that he has been inspired him to perform live again, which he'll be doing this summer and in the fall. During a visit to New York, he spoke to Spinner about being inducted into the Rock Hall, the new anthology set, the early days with Bob Dylan, his friendship with the Beatles, and his involvement with the David Lynch Foundation, which promotes Transcendental Meditation.

Congratulations on your recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. How does it feel to finally get in?

Awards have been coming as the work gains in weight and critical acclaim and historical meaning. But this one is the largest, it's more like an Academy Award because so few are awarded every year and it's by our peers. This, for me, is important because from the very early day of committing myself to being a voice for a generation -- and I did intend that -- because I came from the tradition of folk music, introducing ideas from Bohemia and what we called the underground ideas that I felt were needed by the millions of young people in the world to save this planet from absolute destruction, deterioration, pollution and poison from a modern age.

Listenable though they may be, Jack Black says, the recent offerings from Jack White, Tom Waits, the Foo Fighters and Gotye all share one thing in common: They're not as good as the new Tenacious D album, Rize of the Fenix.

"I do love [Jack White's] "Blunderbuss," I love the Foo, I love Tom Waits, his new record is incredible ... and Goyte ... but our album is better than all of those, and because we're clowns, we don't get that kind of love," Black said in an interview with Reuters, talking up his comedy-rock duo's third full-length.

"In a hundred years' time, no one will remember Gotye or the rest, but the shining beacon of The D -- they're going to start religions after us," he added.
